The Library is pleased to announce 8 Library Undergraduate Fellowship opportunities for 2020-2021. This cohort driven program promotes peer-to-peer learning and mentorship opportunities with the shared goal of improving Berkeley Library services and spaces. In the Fall semester, fellows will receive training in different aspects of librarianship, from user experience and design thinking to research and instruction. In the Spring semester, fellows will foster connections between the Library’s ecosystem and undergraduate communities by prototyping peer-to-peer services developed in teams. Fellows are empowered to become library champions and contribute to the vision for the Center for Connected Learning (
https://give.lib.berkeley.edu/ccl/the-space).
The fellows will collaborate in small groups to develop a service project based around one of two themes:
Making, media, and design
Library research, reference, and instruction
These projects may include:
* Delivering peer-to-peer consultation
* Developing and delivering in-person workshops for peers
* Designing content or tools to foster peer learning
* Pilot testing and improving a service
* Sharing your experience with the Library
Each fellow will receive:
* Full award of $3,500 (two stipends of $1,750, paid at the end of each semester)
* Training in: Library reference and instruction, design thinking, prototyping, user experience research, teamwork, and building an action plan
* Networking opportunities with librarians and campus experts
* Mentorship and discovery opportunities
* Real impact on the Moffitt Library redesign
All fellows will be required to attend 8 hours of training in August 2021, before the Fall semester begins (may be remote). Mandatory group meetings will occur monthly. Exact dates to be determined.
Eligibility: Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at UC Berkeley in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to serve as a Fellow.
Deadline: May 21, 2020 11:59pm
